I usually don’t plan my grocery shopping and I don’t keep in mind what to buy. So when I walk past a grocery store, I don’t know if I need anything. To solve this problem, I developed pataka.io. Patāka (Maori for pantry, storage room) was a very simple warehouse system for your home. Enter what you need, how much of it should be there and how much is available. Pataka provided you with an up-to-date shopping list so you always knew what you needed on your next unplanned shopping tour. It also provided you with an interface to track groceries, e. g. if you opened a new bottle of milk, you could update pataka with the press of a button.

You didn’t need to create an account. You could start using it right away. If you wanted, you could protect your pantry by providing an eMail address.

I developed pataka.io using Django and hosted it on Heroku.
