Before I had my first smartphone, I wanted to have an overview of my day that I could take with me. Inspired by a similar project, I bought an old POS printer from eBay and connected it to an Arduino through an Ethernet shield. The Arduino printed out a PHP page running on a webserver. The daily overview had a weather report, my Google Calendar, a part of my Twitter feed and today’s events in Darmstadt, parsed from a website.

It was soon replaced by a smartphone.
